Scott was inspired to work for the NHS because of the amazing care they provided to him while he was seriously ill, we also love that he shares our love for the NHS, and the big family we have all become over the last 70 years!

Why do you love working for the NHS?

I love working for the NHS as I think it is the most important institution we have in this country. I love helping the patients and working with my colleagues. Everyone is pulling in the same direction and it feels like one big family.

How does flexible working make a difference to your life?

Working flexible hours around my contracted hours gives me the opportunity to work around my own life outside of the NHS, if I feel I can work extra I will always try to help.

Tell us about your past

I have always lived in the UK, born in Colchester, Essex but spending a lot of my childhood in various hospitals in London. I was born with Spina bifida and without the NHS it is no understatement to say I wouldn't be here today. Without the help and expertise of everyone I have encountered I would never have had the courage or ability to walk and have the mobility I still have today. I will be eternally grateful to everyone at the Lister Hospital, where I am now lucky enough to work, for saving my life in 2009 after being rushed in with Peritonitis and Sepsis. After being given 4% chance of living the amazing specialists, consultants and nurses managed to get me back to full health. Going back to work for the NHS had always been an ambition of mine to try and help give a little back to the people that made me who I am today.

Tell us about your life outside of the hospital

Outside of work I enjoy football, love spending time with my family (even if they drive me nuts). I also love travelling and am lucky enough to have seen some of the most famous landmarks in the world.
