Gayle has been working for NHSP since 2007 after the care her mother had received inspired her to join the NHS family. She began her work with NHSP as a CSW before joining the admin & clerical bank in 2016. In her spare time Gayle enjoys dance, theatre, watching British Superbike racing, and of course, Corrie!
Thank you for all the wonderful work you do to support your trust!

Why do you love working for the NHS?
I feel really proud to work for the NHS through the NHSP Bank. It has been a privilege to be able to put something back into the NHS. My Mum was looked after so well by the NHS, before she sadly passed away of a terminal illness. This inspired me to join NHSP as a Bank Only FW in 2007.How does flexible working make a difference to your life?
It made a huge difference in my life to be able to pick and choose the shifts I wanted to work, when I was a NHSP Bank Only CSW, up until 2013. I re-joined the NHSP A&C Bank as an Office Administrator in 2016, and because of the flexibility it gave me, it was absolutely marvellous for a healthy work-life balance.
What has been your proudest moment working for the NHS?
I was 'specialing' a distressed Neuro patient back in 2008, as a CSW. I eventually managed to find some 'common ground' with this patient, by talking about my Father who had previously been in the Royal Air Force (RAF). This patient had also been in the British Forces many years' ago. He enjoyed telling me about it. For the time he was reminiscing and talking, his distressed state became totally calm. The patient's family were quite tearful, and thanked me for getting their Father chatting so freely about his past experiences. This made me feel extremely proud [and privileged] to have been able to help this lovely patient and his family. It was an experience I will never forget.
Tell us about your past…
I was born in the UK, and have always lived in the UK. I was a Student Nurse for over 12 months from 1978 - 1979. I left the NHS and got married, before I qualified as a Nurse. I always felt that leaving Nursing before I qualified, was one of the biggest regrets of my life. I was thrilled to return to the NHS as a Bank Only CSW with NHSP in 2007.
