NHS Professionals’ Appoints New Chair

Following last year’s decision to retain NHS Professionals (NHSP) in public ownership, we are very pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chair for the organisation, Stephen J Collier. Stephen is an experienced non-executive director, company chair, and has a background of organisational leadership in both public and private sector organisations. He originally practiced as a lawyer, but most of his career has been in the healthcare sector.

The appointment provides further long-term certainty for NHSP as it prepares for its ambitious Transformation Programme which aims, over the next 5 years to save £1bn for the NHS, double the number of client NHS Trusts and triple the numbers of bank members it can supply for flexible working within the NHS.

On his appointment to the role on 13th June 2018, Stephen Collier commented:

"I'm really looking forward to joining NHS Professionals at this significant point in its evolution. Workforce management and its greater flexibility is key to addressing many current challenges for the NHS - whether that is through local Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STP), the provision of new models of care or the flexibility around patterns of work that our bank members and other NHS staff are looking for."

Colin McCready, Interim Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer at NHSP added:

"Having Stephen as Chair will enhance the mix of skills and experience on our Board and support us in our transformation journey. We are now looking to broaden and deepen our relationships with a range of stakeholders who cover the workforce agenda, so that our offer to the NHS can better meet current and emerging needs and models of care”
