Consultant in Respiratory

We have an exciting opportunity for a consultant to work with us at University Hospitals Plymouth in Respiratory.

We are looking for a dedicated doctor ready to work in a Trust that puts their patients at the heart of everything they do.

This Role is to start ASAP with a 12-month placement opportunity (with the possibility to be longer) within the excellent team in respiratory. You will be responsible for providing exceptional care.

Although this role would be predominantly based in Plymouth University Hospitals Trust there may be the opportunity to work extra shifts across any of our partner Trusts.

  • Location: University Hospitals Plymouth Trust
  • Days per week: Monday-Friday
  • Shift Pattern: long days/nights (negotiable shift pattern)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Pay rate: £90 per hour
  • Payment method: PAYE we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies

 

General workload includes:

 

  • The post holder(s) will work with specialty colleagues to provide a comprehensive in outpatient service for patients with respiratory disease, interacting with senior and junior medical colleagues and nursing staff both within and outside the department during the care of patients. The post holder(s) will be managerially responsible to the Service Line Clinical Director (Dr John Corcoran) and Manager (Mrs. Gemma Taylor), and professionally responsible to the Medical Director (Dr Mark Hamilton).
  • The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality medical care to patients within the Trust on the medical wards and in the Chest Clinic
  • The post holder will also be expected to be actively involved in the department's administrative, teaching, continuing medical education, and audit activities. Involvement in research will be encouraged and the post holder will be required to contribute to undergraduate teaching for the University of Plymouth (Peninsula) School of Medicine and Dentistry.
  • There is an expectation that the post holder will undertake some form of weekend and evening working on-site, as well as overnight on-call duties

 

Doctors Direct recruit to the highest of NHS standards and all applicants for this role should meet pre-screening requirements before applying:

  • Full GMC licence to practice
  • MRCPCH Part I (Or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 12 months General Professional Training or equivalent
  • At least 18 months paediatric training, including 6 months of neonatology.
  • APLS or equivalent
  • Child Protection Level 2 Course
  • Must be able to cover nights and long days
