
Over a period of up to 24 months the EU graduate programme allows you to gain experience as a junior doctor in the NHS, giving you the opportunity to work at one of our Gateway Partner Trusts.
The clinical and educational experience gained whilst on the programme supports completion of your CREST certification allowing you to apply for core/GP/specialty training.
The Doctors Gateway EU Programme offers you the unique opportunity to begin working in the NHS in a clinically and educationally supported environment.
The programme has been designed to support UK citizens and those with the Right To Work in the UK who have completed a medical degree within the last 12 months or who are in the final 6 months of studies at a European university*. It is a unique opportunity to gain the relevant, clinical experience at the start of your medical career.
You are invited to apply if you have completed your medical degree within the last 12 months or if you are in the final 6 months of studies at a European university* and have the Right To Work in the UK. Applications are considered on a continuous basis and you could start the programme at any point throughout the year.
You will move to the next stage once your studies are complete.
If you successfully complete the application and virtual interview you will be required to complete the online Gateway registration process. Our Dedicated team will support you through this process, which includes;
You will also be required to attend the online Gateway Induction Programme before you can apply for a placement.
Once you have completed the registration process you will have access to unique opportunities at our Gateway Partner Trusts. During your placement you will be employed by the Trust in various clinical settings to support your journey to CREST sign off.
At your Gateway Partner Trust you will join the junior doctor rota working alongside foundation doctors and paid the equivalent national payrate.
*Where the Primary Medical Qualification is recognised for full registration and license to practise with the GMC.
The Gateway for Doctors programme launched in 2019 and is part of Doctors Direct and NHS Professionals. Our programme offers doctors who have completed their medical degrees in Europe a unique opportunity to gain the relevant, hands-on experience needed to start a career in the NHS.
