About the Trust

Located in Britain’s Ocean City, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is the largest hospital Trust in the South West Peninsula, providing comprehensive secondary and tertiary care to a wider population of almost 2,000,000 people. The Trust works within a network of hospitals to offer a range of specialist services including kidney transplants, Neonatal intensive care and high-risk obstetrics and cardiothoracic surgery, among others.

Employing around 7,000 staff and volunteers, University Hospitals Plymouth is a major contributor to a region that is a mix of both rural and urban.

Doctors Direct has been proudly working in partnership with the Trust since January 2019 to support the recruitment of doctors and ultimately help them realise their vision of providing excellent care, with compassion, wrapped around people’s individual needs.

Why Choose Doctors Direct?

Doctors Direct is part of NHS Professionals and owned by the Department of Health and Social Care, which means that we are part of the NHS family and sets us apart from locum agencies. Saving money and providing only the highest quality locum cover to our partner Trusts is at the very heart of what we do.

Doctors Direct is part of the NHS and does not charge our partner Trusts the expensive fees associated with private locum agencies. That means every shift worked by one of our members helps save money for the Trust and the wider NHS. These vital savings can then be reinvested into what matters most, patient care and safety.
