Consultant in Community Paeds

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Paediatrician with a specialist interest in Adolescent Health and Eating Disorders to work with us at University Hospitals Plymouth in the community paediatrics’.

We are looking for a dedicated doctor ready to work in a Trust that puts their patients at the heart of everything they do.

The successful applicant will work within an MDT comprising a Paediatric Associate Specialist, CAMHS colleagues and a specialist dietician to provide services for young people with Eating disorders. They will also work alongside the other fifteen General Paediatric consultants to provide acute, emergency and outpatient care for young people, with a particular focus on adolescent health.

The post which will be divided between the Acute Paediatric service and providing Adolescent Health and Eating Disorder specific services. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the Acute Paediatric service including provision of acute ward service as the admitting consultant, acute shifts on the  Assessment Unit, provision of safeguarding medicals and some General Paediatric outpatient work.

  • Location: University Hospitals Plymouth Trust
  • Days per week: Monday-Friday
  • Shift Pattern: 8:30 – 17:30
  • Start Date: ASAP - ongoing
  • Pay rate: £90 per hour
  • Payment method: PAYE We do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies

 

General workload includes:

  • work as part of the existing community paediatric medical team to support and develop our community-based services
  • work as part of a multidisciplinary team contributing to and developing pathways of care, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the hospital and in allied agencies to nurture the joint working we have established to date
  • offer educational and clinical support and leadership to trainees (both medical and nursing), medical students, and other members of the MDT
  • act as a role model of professionalism represent the values and behaviours agreed by the trust, and demonstrate these in their work, taking remedial action where poor behaviour is exhibited

 

Doctors Direct recruit to the highest of NHS standards and all applicants for this role should meet pre-screening requirements before applying:

  • Full GMC licence to practice
  • MRCPCH Part I (Or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 12 months General Professional Training or equivalent
  • At least 18 months of paediatric training, including 6 months of neonatology.
  • APLS or equivalent
  • Child Protection Level 2 Course
  • Must be able to cover nights and long days
