Care of Elderly Consultant

We have an exciting opportunity for a consultant to work with us at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in Care of the Elderly.

We are looking for a doctor dedicated to, and passionate about, improving health and wellbeing within the East Kent community.

This Role is an ongoing fulltime placement opportunity within the fast paced care of the Geriatrics department. This role would be predominantly based in East Kent with the opportunity to work extra shifts across the Trusts’ other sites and any of our partner Trusts.

 

Requirements

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Conduct thorough medical assessments and evaluations of elderly patients to diagnose and manage age-related health conditions.
  • Develop individualized care plans based on the patient's medical history, current health status, and specific needs.
  • Specialize in the diagnosis and management of common age-related conditions, such as dementia, osteoporosis, arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, considering potential interactions and side effects that are more prevalent in older adults.
  • Regularly review medication regimens and adjust as needed.
  • Focus on preventative healthcare measures to promote healthy aging, including vaccinations, health screenings, and lifestyle recommendations.
  • Assess and manage the mental health and emotional well-being of elderly patients, including addressing issues like depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline.
  • Offer support for patients and families dealing with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia.

 

Details about the roles:

  • Speciality: Care of the Elderly Consultant
  • Location: East Kent
  • Shift patterns: 08:00-16:00/9:00-17:00 Monday-Friday on-going, part-time hours also available
  • Hours per week: 20-50 hours available
  • Start date: ASAP- no end date, this is on-going the client will accept short term contracts
  • Pay rate: £100 - £120 per Hour
  • Payment method: PAYE we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies
