Consultant - Gastroenterology

Doctors Direct have an exciting opportunity for a consultant to work with us at Princess Alexandra NHS Foundation Trust in the Gastroenterology Department.

This role is a fulltime opportunity within the fast-paced department. This role would be predominantly based in the Princess Alexandra hospital with the opportunity to work extra shifts across the Trusts’ other sites and any of our partner Trusts.

 

Your key responsibilities will be to: 

  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients with gastroenterological and liver disease
  • To provide safe and high-quality inpatient cover through the role of GOW (currently 1 week in 5 moving to 1 week in seven when appointments have been made)
  • Participate in the GI bleed on call Rota
  • Providing a safe and high-quality endoscopy service. Diagnostic and therapeutic Upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy skills are essential and JAG accreditation for these. ERCP skills are not essential however candidates with this experience would be welcome to pursue this role.
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams (Upper GI Cancer, IBD).
  • Participating in medical audit, the Trusts' Clinical Governance processes and in CPD
  • Engagement in departmental meeting timetable (Wed am) – Cancer MDT, IBD MDT, audit, Morbidity and Mortality (M&M), Clinical Advisory Group, Endoscopy Users group etc.

  • Speciality: Gastroenterology
  • Location: Harlow, Essex
  • Start Date: ASAP-ongoing, no end date yet.
  • Days per week: Monday-Friday (our client will accept part time doctors 2-3 days per week).
  • Shift Pattern: 9:00-17:00
  • Pay rate:  £90-£120 per hour (depending on experience).
  • Payment method: PAYE we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies

  • Valid GMC.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Clinical attachment complete.
  • Minimum 3 months paid UK experience
