Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine

Doctors Direct have a new and exciting opportunity for a Consultants to work with us at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust in Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine.

We are looking for a dedicated doctor ready to work in a fast-paced environment at a Trust serving more than 300,000 people across North Warwickshire, South West Leicestershire and North Coventry. This role would be predominantly based at George Eliot Hospital with the opportunity to work extra shifts across the Trusts’ other sites and any of our partner Trusts.

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust opened in 1948 and provides a range of elective, non-elective, surgical, medical, women’s, children’s, diagnostic and therapeutic services. A full range of sexual health services across Warwickshire is also provided by the Trust.

 

The details of the role are:

  • Grade: Consultant
  • Location: George Eliot
  • Start date: ASAP on going until further notice.
  • Shift pattern: Monday - Friday, 8:00-17:00, Saturday-Sunday 9-15:00 full time hours available
  • Rates: £110-£125 depending on experience

 

About the role:

  • Deliver day-to-day clinical care and leadership on the Acute Medical Unit
  • Support the Same Day Emergency Care and Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) carrying out review of ACU patients.
  • Participate in ongoing development of clinical guidelines in acute medicine, audit and other key aspects of clinical governance agenda.
  • Actively participate in the teaching programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies.
  • Demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit.
  • Take responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors and other staff within the specialty. This will include the appraisal of doctors in training.
  • Participate in the continuing professional development scheme of an appropriate medical college and the Trust & University Joint Appraisal scheme.
