Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Bank Member, Musa, a Registered Nurse at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust shared her experience of living beyond breast cancer.

Here is what she had to say:

“My name is Musa and in November 2020 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was the most shocking thing to ever happen to me. However, it was detected early which meant intervention was swift and gave me the best chances of a full recovery.

Naturally, there were times when all I knew was fear and wondered if it would come back after treatment. The thing that helped me most was counselling. I had to change how I looked at my life and how I approached it. I now take life a day at a time. I savour every good moment; I do not dwell on the challenges life often throws. One day at a time is how I choose to do life. I have no control over tomorrow, it’s not here and yesterday is gone. I live for today. I don’t worry about what I can’t change, I choose to love, to be kind, and to be patient. I seek only that which gives me peace. I am truly grateful for the gift of life.”

A truly inspirational story from a truly inspirational person.
