Black History Month 2025
This October, we proudly celebrate Black History Month, a time to honour the history, achievements and contributions of Black people across the UK and beyond.
The theme for 2025 is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride” – recognising the strength, resilience and excellence of Black communities, both past and present. This month is an opportunity to reflect on the stories, struggles and successes that have shaped our society and to celebrate the positive impact Black individuals continue to have within the NHS and wider world.
Black History Month also invites us to listen, learn and stand in solidarity. By recognising and valuing diversity, we create stronger, more inclusive workplaces where everyone feels seen, respected and empowered to thrive.
Throughout October, we encourage you to engage in events, activities and conversations that celebrate Black heritage and culture. Whether it’s exploring the achievements of pioneering figures, enjoying Black literature, music and art, or simply having open discussions with colleagues, every action contributes to understanding, unity and progress.
