Celebrating our Doctors Direct G.E.M Award winner

We are delighted to announce Dr Ganesh Arunachalam, Consultant Physician at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, as our Doctors Direct G.E.M Award winner – recognised for his outstanding dedication to patient care, digital leadership, and collaborative team spirit.

Described as an ‘empathetic physician with impeccable bedside manners’, Dr Ganesh is known for placing patients and their families at the very heart of his decision-making. He consistently goes the extra mile to ensure they feel involved, informed, and supported.

One nomination shared a moving story of how Dr Ganesh made it possible for a patient to spend their final moments at home, writing:

"Thank you for organising the oxygen and care team to make her as comfortable as possible in her last hours."

His efforts have also helped Lister ward achieve some of the shortest patient stays in the Trust, all while ensuring safe, effective discharge plans and continued care in the community.
