Booking annual leave with NHSP is simple.

To view how many hours you have accrued and to book annual leave, simply log onto ouHoliday Booking systemor access it directly from My:Bank. Your login and password details for the holiday booking system are the same as your My:Bank login details.

Below you’ll find some useful information about booking annual leave, a step by step user guide and some FAQs to support any queries you may have. Also available in this leaflet (PDF).

  • For every hour you work (excluding lunch or tea breaks), you will build up annual leave.
  • You will start to build up annual leave from the first shift you work for NHS Professionals.
  • Each bank member will have a personalised annual leave start and end date. This will depend on when you work your first shift e.g. if you joined the bank on 3rd January 2019, but booked your first shift on 3rd February 2019, your holiday year will run from 3rd  February 2019 to 2nd February 2020.
  • You can book leave at any time, there are no restrictions on the day and times. Your annual leave is calculated based on your average shift length and pay rate over the previous 52 weeks of work. If you have not worked in the previous 52 weeks, the annual leave available to take will be based on the average shift length and pay rate over the period that you have worked until then.
  • You can only book annual leave if the hours you have built up is equal to or greater than your average shift length e.g. if you have earned 3.21 hours and your average shift length is 6 hours, you can only book a holiday shift once your earned hours reaches 6 hours or more.
  • When you book leave, you cannot also book a working shift at the same time. If you change your mind and decide to work a shift, you can cancel your leave up to 2 hours before your leave is due to end. and rebook to a more suitable time.
  • With any booked leave, the system will automatically authorise and release the timesheet for payment and you will be paid in the same way as normal bank shifts. The pay rate will be based on your average pay rate to date.

 

As soon as you have built up annual leave equivalent to your average shift length to date you can take the leave. Your holiday pay rate will be based on your average pay rate to date or the last 12 weeks if you have more than 12 weeks history of worked shifts.

Book it before it expires. Remember if you don’t use up your annual leave before your holiday year ends, all the leave you will have earned that year will be no longer be available to claim and your new holiday year will begin.
