Going the Extra Mile (G.E.M) Awards 2026 are open for nominations

Nominations are now open for our Going the Extra Mile (G.E.M) Awards 2026, celebrating NHS Professionals Bank Members and Doctors Direct colleagues who have made an exceptional contribution to patients, colleagues, their Trust and the wider NHS over the past year.

Going the Extra Mile can mean many things. It could be brightening a patient's day with a thoughtful gesture, stepping in to support a colleague when they need it most, or consistently demonstrating dedication, compassion and professionalism in every shift.

If you know someone who has gone above and beyond, now is the perfect opportunity to recognise them. Every eligible nominee will receive a digital certificate as a thank you for their contribution, while one winner from each Trust will receive:

  • A £100 Amazon voucher
  • A G.E.M Awards pin badge
  • A G.E.M Awards lanyard
  • A Cadbury's chocolate box 

Nominations are open from Friday 30th October 2026 until Sunday 6th December 2026 at 11:59pm.
