Progressing your application

Full Bank Membership follows a rigorous recruitment process that is fully compliant with NHS Employment Check Standards.

The length of time it will take depends on your availability to attend and complete the interview process, the time taken to receive your references and DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) form. We need your help in working with us to keep this duration to a minimum.

If you are successful at your interview, you will have a dedicated Recruitment Assistant assigned to you who will handle your pre-employment checks and will assist you throughout your registration process each step of the way. We encourage regular communication with us at NHS Professionals to ensure a smooth process for all applicants. 

Your dedicated Recruitment Assistant will monitor all pre-employment checks which include:

  • References
  • Criminal records checks via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
  • Your attendance at mandatory training courses
  • Work Health Assessment via our Occupational Health Team

4 top tips to speed up you application

  1. Tell your referees that we will be in touch about your references and ask them to look out for our emails or letters and respond to them quickly
  2. Complete your Declaration of Health (DOH) online and keep in regular contact with our Occupational Health provider Optima Health.

    • You can contact Optima Health for an update by emailing or calling 03300 084 321. The Optima Health Helpdesk is open Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. 
  3. Attend your mandatory training course and/or complete your online mandatory training if applicable to your role to avoid any delays and attend your classroom training to ensure you are compliant to work for NHS Professionals.
  4. To check the progress of your DBS please use the DBS tracking service, you will need a reference number from us.

Please note: we cannot chase on your DBS on your behalf until it has been in progress for over 60 days.
