NHS Professionals Renews Staffing Contracts with Stockport and Tameside Trusts
NHS Professionals (NHSP) has secured the renewal of separate multi-year staffing contracts with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, extending both partnerships for a further four years.
The new contracts will continue to support collaborative workforce solutions across Greater Manchester, helping to deliver safe, high-quality patient care and service improvement.
Under the renewed agreements, NHSP will manage the flexible workforce across both Trusts, covering Nursing and Midwifery, Healthcare Assistants, Allied Health Professionals, Healthcare Scientists, Social Workers, Non-Clinical roles and Healthcare Support Workers.
This long-term collaboration has enabled NHSP to support a pool of more than 4,000 active healthcare professionals (also known as Bank Members) across both Stockport and Tameside. In December 2025, the introduction of the NHSP BankShare service allowed staff to work shifts at both Trusts, reducing reliance on external agency staffing. Over the last two years alone, the partnership has delivered £4.2m in staffing savings. It has also provided clear improvements that directly support patient care, including:
- At Stockport: Bank fill rates increased from 78.6% to 85%, with agency fill reducing from 9% to 1.5% between 2024 and 2026.
- At Tameside: External agency usage eliminated entirely, with Bank fill consistently maintained at 83–85% between 2024 and 2026.
- More than 1,200 new Bank Members recruited across both Trusts during 2025.
Commenting on the renewed contract, Jacqui Burrow, Chief Nurse at both Trusts, said:
“We are delighted to continue to build our partnership with NHS Professionals in supporting our temporary staffing needs. Their collaborative approach enables us to improve efficiency, drive consistency, and deliver cost-effective solutions, while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and high-quality care.”
Katie Mason, Regional Workforce Services Director (North West) at NHS Professionals said: “We’re proud to continue our partnership with both Stockport and Tameside and to support their workforce requirements.
