New One Devon and NHS Professionals collaboration delivers even more patient care at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

NHS Professionals (NHSP) is pleased to announce a new and exciting addition to their client portfolio, Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, part of the One Devon Integrated Care Board (ICB).

Having gone live in October 2024, this new partnership is continuing to deliver impressive results for healthcare staffing in the region in 2025. NHS Professionals (NHSP) now manages the Trust’s bank for staff groups, including Nursing & Midwifery, Admin & Clerical and Estates & Facilities.

Supporting patient care across Torbay and South Devon

Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust provides health and social care services to people in their own homes and in the local community across five hospitals, stretching from Dawlish to Brixham.

The successful project at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust involved 50+ subject matter experts across all organisations. This new partnership has already produced to some impressive results in the last three months including:

  • 200,881 patient hours delivered
  • 1,695 healthcare professionals transferred to the NHSP Bank
  • 26% reduction in external agency reliance

Delivering integrated staffing solutions across Devon

This latest partnership completes the One Devon portfolio of clients for NHSP, which now provides flexible healthcare staffing across the county for the NHS. This means that NHSP workers across a variety of staff groups will be able to book into shifts at any one of the acute trusts within One Devon:

  • Devon Partnership NHS Trust (Nursing & Midwifery)
  • Livewell Southwest (Nursing & Midwifery, Admin & Clerical, Allied Health Professionals, Healthcare Scientists)
  • Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Nursing & Midwifery, Admin & Clerical)
  • Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (Nursing & Midwifery, Admin & Clerical, Estates & Facilities)
  • University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (Nursing & Midwifery, Admin & Clerical, AHP, HCS, MEDICS, Estates & Facilities, Direct Engagement)

The Trusts work with NHSP to continue to identify innovative staffing solutions that deliver efficiencies, alongside further service enhancements to support patient care, in line with the recent operational guidance.

This exciting project is part of One Devon’s aim towards achieving a single system for bank and temporary staff, enhancing the capability and capacity of the flexible workforce across the county. It also brings together local NHS organisations, local authorities and associated services to improve the delivery of healthcare in the community.
