NHS Professionals appoints new Chief Executive

Nicola Mcqueen CEO

NHS Professionals has appointed Nicola McQueen as its new Chief Executive Officer from Monday 2nd September 2019. This appointment comes at a pivotal time for NHS Professionals as it contributes to the delivery of the recently published Interim NHS People Plan, which aims to help build a workforce that is fit for a world-class 21st century healthcare system.

Nicola McQueen said “I am both delighted and honoured to be taking up the CEO post at a time when workforce strategy within the NHS is arguably more important than it has ever been. For those of you who know me, I am hugely passionate about workforce business issues - I have spent the past 20 years supporting workforce strategies in various public and private sectors”.

Stephen Collier, Chairman of NHS Professionals said “Please join me in congratulating Nicola on her appointment, we are pleased to have secured her through an extensive search process over the last few months. Nicola is ideally suited to the role being identified as the best in a very strong field of candidates. Nicola has a strong background in the flexible staffing sector, a real commitment to effective delivery of services to clients, and solid experience of running change programmes”.

With the launch of the Interim NHS People Plan, there has never been a better time for this organisation, as the one true National Bank, to take the lead in transforming the way that the NHS engages and, perhaps more importantly, retains its talent.

Nicola says “Working at NHSP over the last few months, I have been delighted by the dedication and commitment of NHS Professionals' staff and pleased by the impact that we have on our partner trusts. I look forward to building on this by supporting and encouraging our talented teams to deliver the best customer experience for both our flexible workforce and NHS Trusts”.

Before working with NHSP, Nicola had a career as a Chief Executive delivering flexible staffing solutions to a variety of private and public sector clients, including the DWP, BBC and the healthcare and nuclear sectors. She was recognised for her leadership by being named Executive of the Year at the Women in Business Awards in 2016 and has also achieved the Global Power 150 Woman in Staffing 2017 and 2018 which recognises female leaders and influencers in the Global Talent marketplace.
