Working Shifts at Royal Devon University Healthcare Trust

Please read all the information below carefully before your first shift.

Trust ID Card 

Your ID Card will be issued to you with your Uniform by the Staff Bank Team.

If you lose your ID card please raise a Datix, and email rduh.staffbank-northern@nhs.net to request a new ID card.

Uniform

Clinical Bank Staff wear Blue Scrubs. You will receive your uniform from the Staff Bank Team. If you need additional Uniform, please contact rduh.staffbank-northern@nhs.net.

If you have previously been issued with NHS Professionals branded uniform, you can order replacement uniforms by following the instructions linked here

EPIC Practical Training for My Care (Electronic Patient Notes)

Please complete the Transfusion e-learning module on your Learn+ account and then contact rduh.ivnurses@nhs.net to arrange a BloodTrack barcode this will enable you to be involved in the transfusion process for your patients. 

 

EPIC training must be completed for you to work shifts at Royal Devon. Follow the instructions below to get started:

  1. Email rduh.epictraining@nhs.net with the following information:
  • Your email address
  • Your current job role/title
  • Your current department – e.g Inpatients /Outpatients /A&E/Maternity/Admin etc
  • Any specific training required

2. The EPIC training team will create your profile on Learn+ and will assign the correct “track” to your learning profile so that you can book the correct training session.

3. Log into Learn+ and navigate to My:Dashboard where you will be able to book onto a face-to-face training course.

You will be paid for your time after confirmation of attendance. Payment for training is at the following rates:

Band 2 £11.45

Band 5 £14.53

If you are a new starter, you will also need to complete the Trust’s mandatory training which includes:

  • Equality & Diversity
  • Fire Safety
  • Health Safety & Welfare
  • Infection Prevention 
  • Data Security
  • Moving & Handling Level 1
  • Safeguarding Children Level 1
  • Safeguarding Adults Level 1
How do I complete my training?

1. Log into Learn Plus by clicking here.

2. You will need to select Lyn Green as your manager to ensure you are paid for completing the training (Lyngreen1@nhs.net).

3. Complete the modules listed above.

Where do I need to go?

If you have booked a shift on Allocate on Arrival, please report to Clinical Site Management on Level 1 Next to the Library, you will then be allocated to a ward. There are instances where you may be sent to South Molton Community Hospital, in this case a Taxi will be arranged for you. 

The Ward Directory is in the Main Entrance on Level 2.

Unable to attend a shift?

If you need to cancel a shift within 24 hours of the start time, please notify the ward by calling the Switchboard on 01271 322577, please also cancel yourself from the shift at the earliest opportunity to allow others to book it.

If you are booked to Allocate on Arrival, please call the Duty Matron on 01271 322577 BLP 632/500 to inform of your cancellation.

IT Support 

To obtain your NHS email address and computer login and for any IT issues – contact the IT helpdesk 0300 123 1722.

Parking  

Parking is currently free however you will still need to request a parking permit
