Job Title: Nursery Assistant

Grade: Band 2 (£9.73 per hour)

Department: The Trust Holiday Club

Location: Craven Road, Reading

 

HOURS OF WORK

Work will start from Thursday 25th July to Friday 23rd August, Monday to Friday.

Shifts available: 7am to 3pm or 10am to 6pm.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The objective of a play worker is to assist in the development and running of the holiday club.

The aim is to provide the best possible childcare for children at the club which meets their physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs. Equality and diversity plays is very important role within our nursery and therefore must always be adhered.

Nursery Assistants will be required to ensure the appropriate standards of safety, security and hygiene are maintained at all times on the premises.

Nursery Assistants has a key role in maintaining the high standards of the club, in order to provide a quality service to its clients.

 

MAIN DUTIES

  • To provide the best possible care and stimulation at the club in a safe and happy environment
  • Able to work during the main school holidays; Summer, Christmas and Easter
  • To liaise with parents and encourage their involvement in the aims of the club and in all aspects of the childcare
  • To attend training courses when arranged.
  • To keep abreast of developments in all aspects of childcare practice
  • To assist in the daily domestic management of the holiday club
  • To plan and supervise inside and outside activities and excursions
  • To work flexibly as part of a team
  • To keep records of attendance
  • To act as key worker to under 5’s
  • To complete profiles of those children under 5 years of age
  • To promote anti-discriminatory practice within all of the club activities
  • To use initiative and be dynamic
  • To communicate effectively with the children, parents and other staff.
  • Any other duties as from time to time, to be defined by the club manager.

 

HEALTH AND SAFETY

The post holder is required to take reasonable care of their health and safety and that of others who may be affected by his/hers acts of omissions at work and co-operate with The Royal Berkshire and Battle NHS Trust to ensure that statutory regulations, district policies and codes of practice and departmental rules are adhered to.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of working with Children aged between 4 – 12 years of age.
  • First Aid course.
