FAQs

Who are we?

NHS Professionals is run by the NHS, for the NHS

NHS Professionals (NHSP), owned by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), works in partnership with hospital trusts to provide a bank of highly skilled temporary workers who want to work flexibly within the NHS. Working through the NHSP bank means trusts don’t have to rely on expensive agencies.

Right now, we have over 130,000 members registered on our bank from various roles, grades and specialities, saving the NHS over £70 million each year. This money is then reinvested back into the NHS. We serve Acute, Mental Health and Community Trusts across England, along with Social Enterprises.

What’s changing?

NHSP has been invited by The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, to take over the day-to-day management of the Trust’s temporary staffing needs for all staff groups excluding medics from 4th November 2019.

Once you have successfully completed the NHSP bank registration process you can start booking your first shift using our smart booking platform, My:Bank. Designed with a simple interface, My:Bank can be accessed on your smartphone, tablet or laptop, making it easy for you to book shifts on the go, submit timesheets and view your payslips from the dashboard.

Why is it changing?

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has invited NHSP to manage its bank needs for all staff groups excluding medics to help it achieve the following benefits:

1.Better visibility and control over temporary workforce usage and spend

2. Enhanced temporary worker compliance

management

3. Better visibility of fill rate patterns

4. Detailed management information to support

accurate workforce planning.

When will the changes happen?

The service is expected to be up and running by 4th November 2019. The online shift booking system (My:Bank) will go-live 21st October 2019. The full NHSP service for provision and management of bank staff will go-live

4th November 2019.

How can you continue to work through the bank?

If you are an existing bank worker, it is important that you attend one of the Meet & Greet sessions to continue to book and work bank shifts after. Once you have successfully completed the NHSP bank registration process you will receive a login and password for My:Bank, which will allow you to view and book

available shifts.

What rates of pay do we pay?

Your current bank pay rate will be protected as of the NHSP service transfer date, in line with TUPE (Transfer of Undertaking Protection of Employment) regulations. The Trust will provide NHSP with your existing bank pay rates to enable NHSP to continue with your existing pay rate moving forward.

How will I get paid?

NHSP runs a weekly payroll. Once you have joined the NHSP bank you can start booking shifts using our smart booking platform, My:Bank. Designed with a simple interface, you can also release timesheets and view your payslips. Timesheets released by 23:59 on a Sunday will get paid on the Friday.
