Ward Clerk


We have two roles available for candidates who have worked as a Ward Clerk previously.

The Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust is a major acute trust dedicated to providing the best possible healthcare for the local population of Wigan of over 300,000. They operate from five hospital sites and invest around £220m each year. WWL specialise in orthopaedic service that runs research and offers training to overseas healthcare providers. We have two 3 month placements available for Ward Clerks at The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (WN1 2NN). 

This role is based in the Bryn North Ward at the RAEI, which is a non covid-19 ward, working the admin area along side the nurses station. 

You will be required to wear a mask at all times in the hospital.


The duties are; 

  • Taking inbound telephone calls
  • Inputting data into systems and data bases
  •  Filling patient documents


The working hours are between 15  - 37.5 hours a week Monday – Sunday 9.00 – 17.00.

There is potential for flexibility for the right candidates.

If you are looking for 2, 3, 4 or 5 days a week this could be possible in this role.


This is a Band 2 or 3 role dependant on knowledge and the hourly pay is from £9.21 – 10.81 Monday to Friday, Saturdays is £12.98 – 14.60 & Sundays £16.85 – 18.27.

  • The ability to work with minimum supervision
  • High attention to detail
