We are looking for 4 people to work as Booking Clerks for Covid swab testing for Staff and patients.

We have ongoing placements available for Booking Clerks at Claire House, Wigan (WN3 4NW).

This role is to support the ongoing covid swab testing and is seen as a crucial role within the fight against the virus.


This role’s duties are;

  • Taking inbound telephone calls from WWL staff and patients to arrange appointments for Covid swab tests
  • Inputting data into the shared appointment spreadsheet (Excel)
  • Accessing System one to confirm patient details
  • Help manage a shared inbox
  • Make outbound calls to staff and patients regarding negative test results. (Positive results will be handled by another team)

The working hours are 37.5 hours a week and initially will be Monday - Friday 9.00 – 17.00 with weekend hours once trained fully and the potential for flexibility on the number of hours (1 out of 4 workers are needed each Saturday and Sunday, so ideally will be done on a rota).

This is a Band 2 role and the hourly pay is £9.21 Monday to Friday, Saturdays is £12.98 & Sundays £16.85.

Claire House is a health centre in Wigan, which is used by a number of local health service providers and has free parking located around the building.

On the job training will be provided and will be done over the first 2 week period of the role. You will be working all together as a team to ensure appointments are booked efficiently. The office environment has been assessed to ensure it is covid secure and there are masks available to be worn while working.

  • A smart card and SystemOne access/knowledge
  • Strong telephone customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a busy environment with phones ringing throughout the day
  • Comfortable working with excel
  • Ideally flexible to work weekends as well as Monday to Friday
