Wards Covered: Theatre Department at: Worcester Royal Hospital, The Alexandra at Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital

Pay Rates: Days: £22 Saturdays/Nights: £26.39 Sunday/Bank Hols: £26.39

NHS Professionals manages the temporary staffing needs of around 60 NHS Trusts across England. An integral part of the NHS, it aims to reduce trusts’ spending on flexible workers without compromising quality, by providing greater transparency of demand and supplying bank staff at the best possible rate. Its bank of more than 60,000 flexible workers comprises general and specialist nurses, doctors, midwives, admin/clerical, allied health professionals, healthcare scientists, support services among other healthcare professionals.

The Trust are now looking to expand their flexible workforce via the NHSP Bank across all sites. You will work alongside the Trusts’ dedicated Theatre Team who are committed to delivering excellent patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced theatre staff to expand their existing skills and knowledge.

Skills/Responsibilities

To apply for this post, you will:

  • Have a minimum of 6 months paid experience at Band 5 level in your theatre specialty within the last 2 years

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 with NMC or Registered ODP with HCPC

  • Have knowledge of anatomy/physiology relevant to your role and awareness of current peri-operative practice

  • Always provide high quality patient focused care and take appropriate action to ensure safety of patients.

  • Have an understanding of manual handling practices and policies

  • Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with CHS policy and NMC guidelines

  • Be able to organise the pre-operative care of assigned patients in your specific area of theatres

  • Undertake regular mandatory training

  • To act as a patient advocate throughout the theatre process.
