Consultant – Breast Care Radiologist

We have an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant to work with us at University Hospitals Plymouth in Breast Care Radiology.

We are looking for a dedicated doctor ready to work in a Trust that puts their patients at the heart of everything they do.

You will be working with a forward-thinking team in a purpose built unit within the hospital. We have been the first site in the southwest to recover our COVID backlog in breast screening, but we are still struggling to meet our 2WW trajectory. We have financial backing from the Trust to support a 3-year workforce development plan and as part of this are bringing in a new trainee radiographer every 6 months, are upskilling our radiography workforce to do advance skills up to consultant level and are also looking to train our physicians associates in ultrasound. We have also been successful recruiting in a Radiology Fellow who will be starting in the autumn.

Alongside of the workforce plan we have developed a breast pain pathway to take pressure off our one stop clinics and have also developed a mega clinic model to ensure our one stop clinics can be as efficient as possible.

In the short term we continue to have two Consultant Radiologists Vacancies and are therefore looking for both short term and longer-term placements to work alongside our Consultants which include 5 Consultant Radiologists, and 1 consultant Radiographer in post.
