Trauma and Orthopaedic Doctors

Our client, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are looking for Locum doctors in Trauma & Orthopaedics. This exciting role is only with NHSP as this trust do not use private agencies.

Your role as a Trauma and orthopaedic surgeon will be to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions of the musculoskeletal system. This includes bones and joints and their associated structures that enable movement - ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Consulting with patients and analyzing patient data to determine patient needs and treatment goals.
  • Examining patients to diagnose bone, joint, ligament, or other musculoskeletal problems, including diseases, or injuries.
  • Collaborating with other specialists, when necessary, to determine a course of treatment.
  • Recording patient care by maintaining detailed notes of appointments with patients, including comments, tests, and/or treatments prescribed, and test results.
  • Performing surgical procedures on various parts of the musculoskeletal system, including plating broken bones, reattaching tendons and ligaments, or performing joint or hip replacements, among other procedures.
  • Referring patients to physical therapy, when necessary, or performing non-invasive procedures such as casting and splinting limbs.
  • Monitoring ongoing progress and health of patients, and changing treatment plans, as necessary.
  • Providing support and advice to patients receiving long-term care.
  • Conducting research on defects, diseases, and disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system.
  • Doctors must be ATLS qualified (ALS would be a bonus as that will mean that after this post you could readily fill orthopaedic gaps)

 

Role details

  • Grades: FY2/Senior House Officer/ Specialist Registrar
  • Location: Oxford
  • Shift patterns: Various – full and part time roles available
  • Start date: ASAP – subject to compliance checks
  • Rates: Junior Doctor - £35-£50 per hour Middle Grade - £50-£70 per hour

 

This is a great opportunity to join Doctors Direct, which enables you to work in multiple Trauma and Orthopaedic departments across the country full/part time and be paid great rates of pay.  Doctors Direct recruit to the highest of NHS standards and all candidates applying for this role must have the following:

  • Valid GMC
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Clinical attachment complete and minimum of 3 months paid experience in the NHS/UK
