Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

Doctors Direct have a new and exciting opportunity for a consultant to work with us at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust in Respiratory Medicine.

We are looking for a dedicated doctor ready to work in a fast-paced environment at a Trust serving more than 300,000 people across North Warwickshire, Southwest Leicestershire and North Coventry. This role would be predominantly based at George Eliot Hospital with the opportunity to work extra shifts across the Trusts’ other sites and any of our partner Trusts.

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust opened in 1948 and provides a range of elective, non-elective, surgical, medical, women’s, children’s, diagnostic and therapeutic services. A full range of sexual health services across Warwickshire is also provided by the Trust.

 

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provision of specialist respiratory input for acute respiratory admissions to ensure highest quality care and optimum effectiveness.
  • Support the development of sub-specialist services according to your expertise.
  • Caseload of Respiratory and General Medicine including acute medicine emergencies
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Management of critically ill patients within a medical ICU and HDU environment
  • Offering and being accountable for, full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
  • Responsibility for the care of inpatients and outpatients in the Respiratory Department.
  • Maintaining the highest clinical standards in managing patients.
  • Teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students and junior staff
  • Participation in both department and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit
  • To support development and delivery of sub-specialist respiratory services.
