Your local Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS and social care needs you

We are continuing to recruit to help deliver Covid-19 vaccines across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight

The NHS in Hampshire and Isle of Wight is vaccinating patients against coronavirus which is our best defence against the virus. We have had a very successful recruitment campaign which has enabled us to vaccinate people as quickly as possible and ensure that the NHS can continue to provide other vital services that our patients are relying on.

There are multiple strands to the delivery programme: an evergreen offer of first and second doses to anyone who is aged 16 and over; delivery of booster doses to the clinically vulnerable and all adults over 40; delivery of vaccines to 12–15-year-olds in schools and vaccine centres.

This is an unprecedented ask for the programme, and we would really value new applicants to help deliver it. We have teams visiting secondary schools during school hours across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Meanwhile, Vaccination Centres, Primary Care and Community Pharmacies are delivering the booster doses to adults 7 days a week. There are opportunities to work in all parts of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, in locations that are close and convenient to you.

We are continuing to recruit registered health care professionals to take consent, undertake clinical assessments, administer vaccines, or act as clinical supervisors. We can work with nurses, midwives, doctors, pharmacists, allied health professionals, dental and healthcare scientists.

We also have opportunities for administrators to work alongside the vaccinators to enter patient information at the point of vaccination, and for unregistered vaccinators to administer vaccinations under clinical supervision (full training is provided).

You could be working in any of the following settings:

  • Vaccine centres in Southampton, Portsmouth, or Newport
  • Local vaccination sites in primary care across Hampshire and Isle of Wight
  • Community Pharmacies
  • Schools

You will be employed on a flexible basis, paid for the hours that you work and have the opportunity to work a variety of different shift lengths and patterns. In all roles, appropriate training, supervision, and PPE will be provided to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, and patients.

We have a number of different recruitment processes which can be used to smoothly process your application depending on your personal circumstances and current employment status. If you are unsure of the best process for you, please email HIOWsupport@nhsprofessionals.nhs.uk.

If you are substantively employed in the NHS or another Healthcare Service in Hampshire and Isle of Wight, applications can be made through the NHS Professionals website. Please note that for Hampshire and Isle of Wight vaccine program applications should be made to University Hospitals Southampton and the staff group Additional Clinical Services.
