Welcome to Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust Staff Bank

Would you like to be part of a team that is #SOproud with a real supportive and inclusive ethos and sense of community, working in a location with all the benefits of coast and country living with the convenience of big city life?

Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust has a rich tradition of developing Nursing and Midwifery practice and delivering excellent patient care. The University of Liverpool has awarded Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust the status of University Clinical Education Centre in recognition of the high standard of training provided for students on placement to the Trust.

The Trust cares for a population of 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire, and provides the following services:

  • Adult and children’s accident and emergency services
  • Intensive care
  • A range of medical and surgical specialities
  • Women’s and children’s services, including maternity
  • The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man

Excellent transport links mean the vibrant, historic city of Liverpool is only a short journey away, and both hospital locations are commutable from Manchester, Salford, Eccles, Bolton, Warrington, St. Helens, Chorley, and Preston.

Life at Southport & Ormskirk

" I started as a volunteer on 7A in 2012 and then worked as a HCA through NHSP whilst completing my Nursing degree. I am now a Staff Nurse on 7A. Love the team on my ward as we all have a very close relationship and great bond.

It’s great that NHSP can fill the gaps on our ward when we are short staffed. Quick pay turnaround, and enhanced pay rates on Allocation ward are a great incentive.

Life as a bank nurse

Who are NHS Professionals?

NHS Professionals (NHSP), owned by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), works in partnership with hospital trusts to provide a bank of highly skilled temporary workers who want to work flexibly within the NHS. Working through the NHSP bank means Trusts don’t have to rely on expensive agencies. Right now, we have over 126,000 members registered on our bank from various roles, grades and specialities, saving the NHS over £70 million each year.
