Doctors Direct is the leading specialist provider of locum doctors for the NHS across a range of grades and specialities. We work in partnership with NHS Trusts across England to fill locum shifts, giving our doctors first choice of shifts, before they’re available to agencies.

What does this mean for me?

  • From Monday14thJanuary all locum shift bookings at the Trust will be managed by Doctors Direct
  • You will be able to easily search and book shifts relevant to your skill set either online* or through the Allocate Me app

What do I need to do next?

If you are permanently employed by the Trust and working additional hours as a locum through the bank, you don’t need to do anything at the moment, except download the Allocate Me app.  You will receive your log in details from the Trust Health Roster team week commencing 7thJanuary.

If you are currently a Trust locum and do not hold a permanent post at the Trust, you will need to register with Doctors Direct byas soon as possible to continue working shifts at University Hospitals Plymouth. You will also need to download the Allocate Me app.

The Allocate Me app is available on ios and Android.

I am currently a Trust locum - how do I register?

Please call the Doctors Direct Team at NHS Professionals on 03003 033 877 with your GMC number to hand. They are available Monday to Friday 08:00 – 18:00, or you can email with DOCTOR@PLYMOUTH in the Subject Field. The email should include:

  • Your name
  • Speciality
  • GMC number

They will arrange for an onsite representative to meet with you, and provide you with all the necessary information, including log in details to get you started with us. You will need to provide the following documentation:

  • Proof of Right to Work (valid passport with work permit/Visa if applicable; or, full UK birth certificate with driving licence)
  • If your last DBS check was over 6 months ago, you will need to provide 2 Proofs of Address
