What does your typical day at work consist of?

Helping, doing whatever is necessary, literally!

What do you love most about your job?

People, I love people.

What’s been your proudest achievement at work to date?

The fact that I’ve helped someone. It could be someone’s mum, someone’s dad, or even mine. It’s so important.

What’s the most challenging part of your role?

You’re trying to help somebody who doesn’t know how ill they are or what the outcome will be. You know more about it and can appreciate what is happening and they don’t see it, so it can be a challenge to keep that away from them.

What inspired you to join the NHS?

I used to work in the community. I just felt that I could give more to more people. In the private sector there were maybe only five people but there are more in the NHS.

What do you like most about working for NHSP?

The flexibility

If you could name a hospital, what would you call it?

Ooh, I don’t know. Somewhere like Bluebird Lodge is nice, more of a personal name. I don’t know.

What is your favourite pizza topping?

Pepperoni.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island, what 3 things would you take with you?

My phone, if there was a charger, just to keep in touch with people. My knitting. My dog.

Do you have any hobbies?

Knitting, dog walking and we have an allotment.
